Details: According to a source from Ukrayinska Pravda, we are talking about Sergei Yanchetsky.
The arrest took place on October 21. The court arrested Yanchetsky with the right to post more than 240 thousand hryvnia bail, and also suspended him from official duties, the prosecutor’s office reports.
According to the investigation, the 45-year-old colonel demanded from a businessman liable for military service an unlawful benefit in the form of coupons for 1000 liters of diesel fuel, which is equivalent to 1000 US dollars, for resolving the issue of granting him a deferment from conscription for military service upon mobilization.
The businessman is now receiving full-time higher education for the first time at one of the educational institutions in the Carpathian region, and therefore has the legal right to receive a deferment from conscription, the State Bureau of Investigation explains. However, the military commissar warned the man, who is engaged in agribusiness, that he would issue him a deferment certificate only for a bribe – coupons for one thousand liters of diesel fuel.
State Bureau of Investigation officers detained the official after receiving fuel coupons. In addition to coupons, 13 thousand US dollars and 73 thousand UAH in cash were found and seized from his car.
Law enforcement officers also conducted a search in the defendant’s office, where fuel cards for more than one thousand liters of diesel and gasoline were also seized.
The military commissar was informed of suspicion of receiving illegal benefits.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years.
